Coffee: Blue Bottle’s El Salvador Santa Ana El Majahual

I really stick to just a few blends of coffee and Blue Bottle’s Giant Steps and Bella Donavan are two blends that have consistently kept me caffeinated for the last 2-3 years. I’ve stepped away to other roasters a few times a year but keep returning to Blue Bottle and their core blends.

In October, I started ordering a Single Origin coffee for every other bag I buy from Blue Bottle. Of course, corporately, I have some issues with Blue Bottle’s growth and their prices continue to go up but they’ve done a few things right and as stated earlier this year, as long as their quality continues to be great, I’ll likely remain a loyal customer.

The single origin beans that change every month have been decent. Some were just plain as in whatever, it’s coffee. I’ll drink it. However, the most recent bag is fantastic and has me wanting more. El Salvador Santa Ana El Majahual was released November 17th and it’s one of the first coffees that did not have an overwhelming bark, mulch, fudge or bourbon taste to it. It’s uniquely cinnamon and apple and nuts. It’s very close to flavor description that Blue Bottle states on the included tasting notes. I was impressed by the overall quality and while I rarely promote or hype things such as coffee beans, this is a bean worth trying if you’re almost out of your current bag and in need of more.
