Photography: Peak Design Capture Pro & Accessories

Peak Design Professionals Pack

Based on some recommendations from friends Liana and Doug I picked up Peak Design’s Professional’s Pack. You get 4 great camera accessories that work together quite well and save $15 over buying each component separately.

Initially, this started as a search for a new way to connect my Olympus OMD EM-1 to my tripod. I have the Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 4-Section Pro Carbon Fiber Tripod & Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head with Quick Release. The tripod is great! Super light-weight and very easy to use. Lots of features that I can’t live without now. I’ve been wanting to do more night-photography and time-lapse work with my OMD so getting the camera to fit the tripod was problematic.

The cheapest solution was the Manfrotto RC2 plate but the more I read about the Peak Design CapturePro + ProPad, the more I wanted them. I also have been looking for a replacement strap and easy hand cuff so this worked really well as far as pricing.

The actual Peak Design slab will stay connected to my camera at all times, I can wear the ProPad on photo walks or easily switch to the leash via really easy to use snap-on connectors. Changing the Cuff to Leash to ProPad is really easy. Removing the strap takes seconds instead of minutes.

Here are the connectors:

They go in the camera’s strap hooks and snap into Peak Design accessories quite easy.

Here is the Capture Pro

And finally, the Pro Pad which works with the Capture Pro to allow easy removal of the camera.

Looking forward to using this on hikes. The Pro pad can go hip level of chest level on my backpack strap. It’s very versatile.
