★ Looking for Feedback…

I’ve been blogging at this space for nearly a year now. Prior to this, it was 5 separate blogs with different topics and their own small subsets of groups that commented. My interests were shifting and my free time was drying up so I dropped those and started fresh with a blog that was simply my thoughts about various topics but with no particular theme. So far, the results have been fantastic.

There’s something missing though. I’d like to do something different or at least evolve the blog for its 1 year anniversary and set the tone for 2010. I’m looking for comments on how things can be improved. Here are my initial ideas.

  • Do more rich media (audio & video)
  • Write significantly smaller blog posts (80% of them are over 1,200 words)
  • Include more photos to make the blog feel more alive
  • Allow a couple of guest bloggers to write here
  • Start using tags and re-do categories to better reflect the diversity of my posts

Thanks everyone for your support. I’m looking forward to a terrific 2010.

  1. I agree that updating the blog with rich media would be a good move, along with the idea of adding more photos.
As far as the guest bloggers, I have to say that I enjoy this being a primarily Adam Jackson Blog. Maybe if you are reviewing a product or have a category that would be a good context to let other bloggers write in on, that would work.
And as far as tags and categories, I think that is a great idea!

    Keep up the good work!

  2. I am going to offer my opinions on what you've suggested yourself:

More rich media – I think you do quite a bit personally, but if anything you should consolidate it to the blog.
Small blog posts – Smaller posts to me mean more time refining the post, even though it takes less time to write it. In the end, it's equal with what you have now.
Include more photos. – Yes, in fact, throw some in your posts if you're going to write smaller ones.
Guest bloggers – Wouldn't hurt, but what type of topics.
Using tags, etc… – Yes, it'll help with promotion. You can also start spreading/sharing the love on sites like Technorati, Stumbleupon, etc.

Hope this helps. (This coming from a guy who has yet to get his own blog off the ground, lol.)
