★ Review: Hill Farmstead Art (2012)

Before we go into this one, I gave this beer a perfect 5. I’ve done that with one other beer. This is the beer I wish were available at Walgreens for $3.99 a bottle. It’s the beer I’d drink daily if it were canned and I had a fridge full of it. It’s the beer I’d take fishing and camping and to Christmas parties.

It’s the best Saison I’ve ever tried.

Picked this up at the bottle release a few months back. Stored at 60 Degrees then placed it in the fridge an hour before serving. Enjoyed in a Hill Farmstead glass with friends.

A – Bright golden orange with lots of haze. 4-finger solid white head with tight bubbles

S – It’s really nice on the nose. Very floral and grassy. Mild level of lemon zest and oakiness.

T – Taste is up front very citrusy and a mild level of peppery spice. Hints of lemons and cloves. Finish is tart and somewhat funky.

M – 60% carbonation on the mouth swish. Light body. Tart finish.

O – Art is easily twice as good as Arthur but I gave Arthur a big rating I certainly can’t double the rating so I’m just gonna give it the best I can.

  1. You didn’t mention any wine flavor.  The front of the bottle doesn’t specify what kind of wine barrels it was aged in, or how long.

    1. There is some there but it really adds to the sweetness and crispness. No tannins or any acidic properties that I could tell. No idea what kind. I know it’s white wine but I honestly can’t remember what style.
