★ “Pagination comes to Google Docs”

Google Docs Blog:

Today, we’re doing another first for web browsers by adding a classic word processing feature—pagination, the ability to see visual pages on your screen. We’re also using pagination and some of Chrome’s capabilities to improve how printing works in Google Docs. Pagination is rolling out now and should be available to everyone by the end of the day.

The lack of inclusion of pagination in any desktop word processing software from 1994 to 2011 and no one would buy the software. Google adds it and it’s front page news on every tech blog.

I don’t use Google Docs and I never will so I wasn’t aware that this wasn’t already a feature. The fact that you guys are using Google Docs to power your business and shit like this isn’t standard yet amazes me. If you fund a startup that only uses Google Docs, realize you’re dumping millions into a company that uses software that doesn’t even include basic word processing features that free open source desktop software has had since ’94.

..and Google charges for this as a part of Google Apps Premiere.
