Back to Podcasting

Zoom H6 with Shure SM58

This blog specifically started around 2008/2009 but as you all know by now, this is not my first blog…it’s my 7th or 8th which began in 1999 and I finally settled on this domain name for the last 10 years and I think it’s gone pretty well. There have been some constants in that time like videography, photography, writing what I feel like and of course growing as a person and getting older. I’ve still never monetized this blog and I’m okay with that but since 2015, I’ve worked hard to monetize YouTube and have been successful where that’s around $400 a month in earnings.

Podcasting is what I’ll be focusing on in 2020 and it’s not something that’s brand new to me. This will be my 4th podcast. The first 3 were fun and short lived and while I still have all of those original audio files, playing them back was pretty cringe-worthy. Awful quality, language, unprofessional attitude and just really basic from a technical stand point and nothing I’d dare put my name on today. We’re not talking horribly offensive content just a bunch of 16-18 year olds recording podcasts on built in microphones and it just kind of stupid.

I stopped podcasting in 2005 after a couple of years of efforts. Back in 2005, Leo Laporte was still on hit Netcasts kick and while history went in another direction, I think he had a great point. Podcast is a terrible name considering iPods are not around anymore and net casts is fare more appropriate. But Leo’s schtick about not using Twitter because it was too close to TWIT his podcasting network was pretty stupid. I remember Leo was using Jambo instead of Twitter and it seems Jambo is actually still around. Hmm….

Since I stopped podcasting, jeez a lot has happened. Podcasting is a legitimate thing now. It’s funny because I am often an early adopter then I get out after a few years then everyone else starts doing it. Stay tuned for 2025 when I finally re-join Facebook after joining in 2006 and leaving in 2012.

This time, the podcast is going to compliment something that occupies all of my free-time and that’s motorcycling but since I don’t want to do a motorcycle podcast, I’m inviting people on who ride like me but the subject doesn’t have to be riding and we can start with “what do you ride” and expand to “where are you from?” And go from there.

I’m calling it Spinning Spokes with Adam Chandler and I don’t plan on doing many solo podcasts unless I’m traveling alone. The idea is that I invite people on that I know in real life who are also riders and we just talk for 20-60 minutes. There’s no schedule, no agenda, no ads and no goals. Ideally, I’d like to make enough money to pay for the $15 a month it costs to host the podcast but other than that, I have no ambitions or requirements for where the show goes next.

https://overcast.fm/itunes1496303703/spinning-spokes-with-adam-chandler is the best place to subscribe but you can search for the podcast on pretty much any platform except the Google Play store because it’s still under review there.

I’ve recorded my 3rd episode with just one being me solo. The audio quality will improve over time but I hope you’ll drop by and take a listen.
