LInked: “I Was Supposed To Write About Apple’s New Show ‘Planet Of The Apps,’ Instead, I Wrote About @GaryVee”

via Brian Solis:

I don’t know if he remembers this, but in 2008, Frank Gruber and I helped with his first SXSW wine party by organizing a flashmob for him at the Marriott. As the story goes, he didn’t want to wait in line for one of the more popular parties, so he Tweeted, “I’m not dealing with this s***. Everybody come to the Marriott for free wine.”

I miss Web 2.0 a lot. Things are simpler back then.

I also love that Mr. Solis is still blogging.

My GaryVee story is that I met him at Blogworld in 2008. We chatted for 30 seconds at a party. A year later at SXSW, I got into an elevator with Gary and he remembers my first and last name and asked me if I was still at Yoono. That’s a skill you have to work at if you don’t already have it naturally. I can’t say if Gary gave a shit about me or Yoono but I can tell it made my day. I’m so happy to see Gary still ‘crushing it’ a decade later.
