Technology: My 3rd Pair of Shure SRH840s are Broken

It was in March of 2010 that I picked up the Shure SRH840 headphones. I really love these things. In January of 2015, I had them replaced due to some strange audio issues. I thought this was a good deal. I paid $79 to replace headphones I paid $150 for just 5 years earlier. The replacements weren’t refurbs. (as I previously thought) They were brand new headphones in the box. Great job, Shure!

Here’s that blog post where I got my SE530s and SRH840s replaced.

I use the SRH840s at my desk at work full-time. Thankfully, no one has stolen them because they’re fantastic cans. If they were stolen, I’d buy a new set in an instant. They do travel with me once a month I’ll take them home and pack them away in my backpack. I’m in Bermuda writing this and I just grabbed my headphones and there’s a crack in the plastic. I was just using them 5 minutes ago! Sigh, the crack happened seemingly at random.

I’ve emailed Shure which will likely mean another $79 replacement. Worth it.
