Linked: Stephen Fry Leaves Twitter

via StephenFry:

Oh goodness, what fun twitter was in the early days, a secret bathing-pool in a magical glade in an enchanted forest. It was glorious ‘to turn as swimmers into cleanness leaping.’ We frolicked and water-bombed and sometimes, in the moonlight, skinny-dipped. We chattered and laughed and put the world to rights and shared thoughts sacred, silly and profane. But now the pool is stagnant. It is frothy with scum, clogged with weeds and littered with broken glass, sharp rocks and slimy rubbish.

I do miss Twitter. Not the distraction of it or the social interactions but the ability to provide a running dialogue of my life. I still have my offline Twitter archive and while my account is still available for people to browse, I haven’t used it in years.

I have AdamCBeer and AdamChandler86. The first is just an RSS feed for my beer blog and the second is my dormant account that hasn’t seen a tweet in over 2 years.

Maybe this is a good time to mention I have started tweeting again but purely in a way that makes me happy. I don’t want any interactions on Twitter and I don’t want to follow anyone but I do want to document my life, thoughts, experiences so I’m tweeting to myself well, technically I’m micro-blogging which was a term long before Twitter. Here’s the RSS feed for it.
