...cancel that. plane had a flat tire. JAX 8AM - 5PM (thank god I had my laptop), Transfer Airlines to American... JAX - PHL at 8PM, PHL to MHT by 10PM, Heather picks me up and we're home by midnight. Sigh.
JAX 8AM - EWR 10AM - BOS Touchdown @ 2PM, Home by 5.
This is the 2nd time I've spoken to Dartmouth students about tech. First time was in 2013 at Tuck. This time at Thayer to engineering students.
1st month of the year almost up. dang
In other BMW news...now a BMW MOA Regional Coordinator for New Hampshire & Vermont.
new old iPhones are in. wow.
I'm very excited to hold an iPhone 2G in my hand again. It's been a ridiculously long time.
A lot of people keep their iPhones every year instead of selling them. I always sold mine to fund the next purchase. Looks like that was a good idea because you can purchase cheap iPhones on eBay. Just spent $200 on an iPhone 2G, 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4S with the boxes and accessories. iPhone 5 starts to get more expensive but I can wait 5 years and grab a 5, 6, 7 for likely the same price.
3rd time I've started watching Lost.
It looks like Winter has finally started!
It took me almost no time at all to get used to writing 2019. good job me!
I was elected to the board of my most local BMW motorcycle club. Taking it slow initially but I'm really stoked.
Over the winter break, AppleCare replaced my keyboard, Touch Bar, battery and top-case on the 15" MacBook Pro. 3 day turnaround. amazing work.
What need doing?
Christmas is over. Can enjoy a stout, write and listen to techno
Unsurprising I'm getting a lot done today. no one is in the office. It's quiet, too quiet.
Another motorcycle in the basement! Switching web hosts today. big day. but first. waffles.
...flying down to Richmond. Another bike.
The month of auto costs continues to add up but this time, it's a new car! Golf R is being stored off-site for the Winter. I'm welcoming a 2015 Ford Escape to the stable. Base model, 250K miles. Got it for $800. I put an additional $2500 into it (full overhaul of maintenance, tires, insurance, registration, floor mats, wipers, brakes, detailing) and now it's road ready. $105 alignment and we're set for a couple of years!
There's a dead tree in my house that's a fire hazard and electricity waster. It's also scaring my dog.
$125 spent on undercoating for my car. Due to overspray and negligence, my detailing job is now moot.
Annual car maintenance happening today, "should be no more than $1500" sigh.
40K mile maintneance
Gen 5 haldex tune from UM
Billstein Damptronic B16 coilovers.
Annual car detailing taking place. $500 out the door and "by the way, spring time will cost around $1500" sigh.
I lose my mind driving in snow. I love it so much.
New week. December is slow which is a good thing.
I don't have any full blooded siblings but hearing from one of my half-siblings (8 of them exist out in the world) after 15 years of nothing is pretty cool. I'm going to guess we have a lot to catch up on.
444 emails this week. damn.
Feeling incredibly organized today.
IT'S IPAD DAY!!! I haven't had one since September when I sold it anticipating a September release. So much reading to catch up on.
Sunday breakfast with the BMWMOV always a fun time!
"403 Forbidden: The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it."
New 11" iPad Pro Ordered.
"Your new job title has positive implications"
Me: "Should I buy new polos?"
Busy car month in November. 40K mile maintenance, Detailing, Opti-Coat repair, insurance repairing 2 of my doors and a rear quarter panel, new end links from SuperPro under warranty on the rear sway bar, new winter tires (Blizzak) and possibly new coilovers.
more rain, more ice, snow coming? sigh.
"The broken are the more evolved"
Spent the last 3 days riding in the rain. Today, I rode in snow. Off to a good start on the new bike.
Boston for a conference.
Feeling unwell today. Good news is, new motorcycle arrives tomorrow.
FaceID is truly as bad as I thought it would be.
$13,000 to repair a motorcycle. Sheesh.
Another year, another iPhone & Apple Watch.
Crashed my bike. sad day.

All three of my vehicles are getting service at the same time. I should time this better.
REI's 12 month guarantee is nice. Tent poles bent on day 1 of my trip, I kept them together and wrote a letter to REI and they didn't want photos "just send it back for a full refund"
Three 3-day weekends in a row. Nice.
RSS is coming back for the tech people. it still won't expand to mainstream though.
I don't listen to music on my monitor headphones anymore. When I do, I forget how much I miss it.
Well, this whole dirt bike thing is causing me a lot of issues. just mostly around getting it road ready. Lots of crap done by the previous owner and now I'm doing basic modifications and it's costing me more downtime. broke something installing LED Turn signals last night. IDK what.
Dirt bike helmet arrived. It breathes incredibly well..very loud though but will be great off road. Shoei is done inspecting my helmet. I hope it's still safe to use?
My new motorcycle requires a key to start unlock my other two vehicles. Went to ride it and realized I didn't have the key in my jacket. Hunt begins. sigh.
Her: "Who are you talking to?"
Me: "Final Cut Pro"
took the beta apart. heather was not happy "i can't get to my beer because your bike crap is in the way again"
I went as far north as you can go via road in Quebec / Labrador. Then I came home. What an amazing trip.
I bought a motorcycle today. My R1200 GS Adventure has a little brother. A 2016 Beta RR-S 500.
My last MacBook Pro, Late - 2013 was a 2nd generation retina. I used to order new laptops every year then I discovered hobbies and money sort of got thrown into other directions. the MBP purchase came at the start of my beer hobby and way before motorcycling and more travel. This is going to be a huge upgrade for me. Haswell Core i7 w/ ddR2 to DDR4, 6-cores, higher clock speed, etc. very excited.

5 days away from the office. Still about 2 hours of actual work per day but it's feeling pretty good.
I've been spending a lot more time at work lately working on really cool things, more time than ever but it's been so much fun to do what we're doing.
Dirt Daze was a blast. 4 weeks till I go camping again.
Time for more camping! this time volunteering at a dirt biking event.
Another weekend of camping, life is good!
My sister graduates from high school tomorrow.
My motorcycle instructor when I first got my license said if you don't drink, if you ride below your limit and you wear a helmet, your likelihood of dying on a motorcycle is almost zero. This was possibly an experienced rider but they were drinking and she wasn't wearing a helmet and if she leaned against the bike as the rider says she did, she wasn't given proper instruction on how to be a rider. You don't just let someone hop on your bike without knowing some basic principles. Tragic. The rider was at fault here.
Today, I called a 15 year old at a high school in Ontario and asked him to stop using my email to buy games, sign up for 5K runs and in his email to Apple Support. He was freaked out but turns out it was a typo on his part.
I've been watching Atlanta lately. Started last week. Shows with great writing and even better art direction pull me in. When a shot is just so captivating, so well thought that it makes me forget about the weaker parts of the scene, I have to play it back and I do that in Atlanta a lot. I also love how the show follows 'day in the life' of a single character that builds up their world-view but without focusing on episodes as linked in a linear way. Atlanta seems to be closer to mini-docu-series around a set of characters and jumps around in various stages of their life. In researching more about the head writer, I learn this guy Donald has been working on things that I've enjoyed for years. I enjoy his music (just started listening today) but also his writing and EP work goes back 10 years. I've been a fan of this guy before I even knew who he was.
54F. That’s the minimum temp for my neighbor to ride his Harley
4 digits: ~13min worst (~6.5avg)
6 digits: ~22.2hrs worst (~11.1avg)
8 digits: ~92.5days worst (~46avg)
10 digits: ~9259days worst (~4629avg)
My iOS Passcode greatly exceeds 13 characters (not digits...characters and is not a dictionary word or term). Guess I'm safe?
This was my largest blog post ever. 90 megabytes.
Facebook is not Microsoft. People needed Microsoft to get work done and for the economy to flourish. We needed computers and Microsoft Office and a web-browser. We don't need Facebook. We don't need a chat client, blog, vlog, live video, marketplace, photo sharing site all in one.
"Hey can I get a copy of that file?" My first thought was going to dropbox...WTF is wrong with me. I have my own server. Launched transmit and dropped it there -http:/
It's Mid-April and we're still having snow and 20 degree temps every day. Over it.
I find a nice motorcycle to buy and fix up for Heather. I commit to buy it. Get insurance started, rent a trailer, spend 8 hours researching maintenance items and getting a shopping list ready of things to grab to check on maintenance, reach out to a wheel shop to repair the bent front wheel, call BMW to setup a pre-purchase inspection and agree to meet the seller this weekend just waiting on him to get back to me with a time.
I email at 11AM (12 hours after we last spoke) "what time do you want to meet Saturday?" 4 hours later "The bike is sold. Thanks"
It took a lot of self-control to remain professional. Considering I emailed him 19 minutes after his listing was live and spent 8+ hours of my own time lining everything up to buy it.
If you bought WB1040607T04 in 2018 from a guy in NY. I hope the bike treats you well. I would have liked to give it to my sister next year for her trip to Alaska. would have been a great graduation gift. enjoy.
Back home, rested, well back at work. Vacation was good. But I have 700 gigabytes of data over 6 days of riding. My home iMac with 8-4Ghz processors is taking a full 24 hours to transcode everything (715 files) so I can actually edit it in Final Cut Pro. Wish I could afford an iMac Pro.
FedEx Home Delivery is a sham. 3 of these packages in the last 3 months. Each time, the tracking is wrong and it's 3 days later than it's supposed to be. A box due to me on Saturday is finally out for delivery on Wednesday after being "loaded on truck for delivery" since Saturday.
I ordered from a company on a Thursday in PA. It's here on Wednesday...that's California shipping times.
Alternatively, I put another order in with the same company on Monday and asked they use USPS. The USPS box arrived today..hours before FedEx home delivery. 2 days from PA to NH via USPS with up to date tracking. FedEx Home Delivery 5 days and confusing tracking. Even went to FedEx yesterday and they couldn't find the box and said it must be out for delivery...it wasn't.
No longer feeling sick...that was a long 3 weeks. Hopefully I'm done for the year!
Of course the bike needs a $4,000 suspension upgrade.
10 days ago I got sick. I'm still draining. UGH.
That’s the percentage of Americans who are going with cremation after death, up from less than 5 percent of Americans in 1980."
That's because people finally realize the imminent threat of zombies.
Surprise, 4-winter tires purchased in February! YAY, $600 later. sigh.
Back at work, dripping nostrils. Fun.
