On Saturday afternoon, I was in Quebec City at Cactus Bar for the annual Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel Celebration. Most bars had 3-5 variants on tap with 7 being available at the brewpub. To avoid the crowds in Montreal, we opted to hit Quebec City. This is a fantastic beer that I’ve only had in bottles so it was really great to have draft kegs among happy Canadians and some great poutine.
The Tap List was:
- Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel 2014 Regular
- Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel Édition Spéciale 2015
- Dieu du Ciel Péché Véniel
- Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel en Fût de Bourbon Américain (2011 Vintage)
Bourbon 2011 stole the show with Speciale 2015 being a close 2nd. Veniel was a 6% ABV drier version of Peche and was less sweet and too roasty for my liking. Overall, a great time!
Afterward, we hit a few more bars to rate beers and have some food:
Doesn’t that poutine make your mouth water?
