I’ve had 1/10th of a day’s worth of Soylent. It’s 11AM and I feel full.
I don’t have a grand plan for cataloging my Soylent saga for the next 28 days but I’ll write some notes here for my own reference. Maybe it turns into a daily blog post but I highly doubt it. Also, nerds over on Facebook keep linking to my posts about the stuff for some reason. Blog readers here know I do a yearly cleanse so it’s not a big deal that I’m doing this. It also comes at a good time because December is a slow time for me and I can take up weird activities like this one.
I started last night by emptying a 2,000 calorie bag + oil of Soylent into a half-full pitcher they included in my first package. I used Spring water that comes in a jug and mixed up the concoction by shaking the container vigorously. Then, I used my hand blender to fully stir everything up and reduce pockets of powder that might have formed. As instructed, I used room temp water and stored the jug in the fridge for 3 hours (overnight in my case).
This morning, things were normal for me. Two full glasses of the same water, a double shot of espresso and then I poured 1/10th of a jug of Soylent into a glass at 10:30AM and drank it. Five minutes later, I felt a little bloated and dare I say, “gassy” but full with maybe a minor knot in my intestines that isn’t normally there.
I’m not doing this for weight loss but I thought I’d post it here in case my weight does change over the next 28 days. I weigh 295 and my BMI is 38% (based on my scale which I know is not an accurate read).
I just had my 2nd serving around 1PM and now just over 45% of the container is empty. I feel good, no pains like I did this morning and I’m not hungry either. I still feel full.
At 5PM and 7PM I had a serving and I have one more ready for a 10PM serving. Overall, I felt full all day with zero cravings for real food. Supposedly, there’s gas and stomach issues for the first 2-3 days but I feel fine. I even am drinking alcohol and don’t feel buzzed as I would with a normal empty stomach (which was a big concern).
Day 1 = Success!
