On Thanksgiving Day, I found myself with 2 friends at the restaurant Longman & Eagle in Chicago. It was a great time, the food was fantastic and I’d like to share some of the libations we had as well. Cost was $65 a person and you can eat as much as you wanted. We got seconds but not thirds.
I started with the Willet 21 year barrel selections picked by L&E a few years ago. They were both delicious but the Longman was much better almost twice as good. Would certainly have again.
Next up, white and dark meat Turkey with Stuffing cubes (cranberry, and Foie Gras) with a heavy creamy gravy
Sides were pretty simple and the weaker part of the meal: Green bean casserole, grilled brussel sprouts with ham and squash. The Cranberry sauce puree however was amazing
Of the sides, the ultra creamy and decadent buttery mashed potatoes were incredible. There were small flakes of cheese in there
Then, we had a few bourbons to finish out the meal.
Of the Bourbon, the 23 year Willet Family Estate was the weakest of the bunch.
Overview of the menu:
Dessert with this vanilla light ice cream / whipped topping. The garnish detracted from the dish but it was still a delicious finish.
We all left completely full but I could basically have eaten a whole plate of the dark meat turkey with a ton of Bourbon. So good.
