Macworld/iWorld will not take place in 2015 and the show is going on hiatus. The show saw a remarkable 30 year run that changed the technology industry, provided an important forum for Apple developers to bring new companies and products to market, delivered world class professional development to Apple product enthusiasts, and fostered the development of one of the most dynamic professional communities in the tech marketplace.
On behalf of IDG World Expo, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for having been an important part of this incredible journey. We offer our deepest appreciation to the entire Macworld/iWorld community.
I went to Macworld in 2003 . I was 16 years old and it changed the path of my life tremendously. I stay in touch with some of the people I met. Guys like John Tylko are at Apple now and I eventually went on to work for the fruit company. I can think of over a dozen people who I still talk to who I met at Macworld over the years, some of them even read this blog which has a far disconnect from the tech focused blogs I used to author.
It’s no far-fetched thing to say that my life would be far different had I not going to Macworld @ age 16 and continue going until age 22. Those of us that went every year had a common bond and definitely the 2002-2010 group of attendees that saw the rise of iPod, iPhone, IPad and Macintosh and the golden years of Stevenotes.
Sad to see this conference go as much as I’m sad to see Mac user groups also fade away. That’s life and I like Jason Snell’s remarks quite a bit.
