Linked: Why Hunter Pence is the Giants’ spirit animal

via New York Post: (FYI, this is the first and last time I link to this site)

As much as the Giants value Pence for his bat and glove, the leadership he brings to the clubhouse is also appreciated. Pence belongs to a veteran group that includes Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval, Tim Hudson, Madison Bumgarner and Jake Peavy.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching Pence in his time as a Giant. I think he gets way too much press but it’s all well deserved but I wish other players received equal amounts of press because this is a team effort.

Sandoval continues to be my favorite Giant. He was there when I lived a few blocks from the ball park in 2010 and remains there but Cain, Posey and Romo are certainly favorites.

I miss Huff, Uribe and others but newcomers have proven themselves in the last few years. I’m happy to be a Giants fan and wish them luck in the NLCS. Let’s hope for another World Series win.
