On October 22nd, I started a 5-day cleansing. Well, I also never posted a follow up that showed how that went and what I learned. It’s safe to say that fasting saved my life simply because my body was more asleep than I imagined prior to fasting and this brought me back to the awoken state where value on what we put in our bodies was now important again.

Day 4 and 5 were when things started getting rough. The thing is, it was purely psychological. I was craving food. I wanted candy, coffee, meat and cheese. If someone placed a buttered piece of bread in front of me or piece of tuna I would have caved in. It was just the fact that the taste and texture of food were on my mind.
Nights are the hardest. I’m not a big snacker but it was around 7PM that I craved something hearty. My juices ran out on Saturday night and Sunday was strictly water fasting. This was the day that things went downhill.
I was a completely different person in 2009. At this point, I was still living in a studio apartment in SF, eating take out and drinking every night at tech parties. I was rarely cooking at home and committed to a fast right after returning from Blogworld in Las Vegas and winning a hamburger eating contest. That fast set me on a path that I continue today.
I didn’t fast in 2010 or 2011. That’s disappointing. It’s not as if I won any hamburger eating contests lately but I have continued to eat a diet mixed with healthy and non healthy foods. For the last 6 months, I’ve eaten very well but I don’t count calories and I still enjoy hamburgers occasionally. The community farms here in New Hampshire with the scarcity of restaurants or fast food makes healthy living much easier. This fast will be longer than my last. The last time, I ordered 3 days worth of juice and nearly went a full 5 days without eating.
In 2012, I have ordered 7 days worth of juice from BluePrintCleanse and will attempt 9 days of fasting beginning last night and concluding Monday the 16th.
Yesterday, I had my last meal which just happened to be a cheeseburger at 5PM. It consisted of Ezekiel bread, Cabot sharp cheddar and ground beef purchased from a farm 10 miles away. I also added a generous amount of Belgian mustard and Cayenne Pepper. There were no sides unless you count 10 pill vitamins. Following the burger, I had a copious amount of water.
Today, water and more water until 1PM when I went to the juice bar in town and ordered an “$18,000 Jing Masters Ice Cream”. It’s not really ice cream and it only costs $22. The price is what you’d pay for all of the herbs separately in order to make this every day for your customers and it takes 15 minutes to make. I’ve had this once before and the feeling my body has is simply remarkable! I found the ingredients list for it on this page:
Truth Calkin’s Jing Master’s Herbal Ice Cream Recipe:
1 1/2 cups of pretty fresh, dry ice. No water. Put in VitaMix.
Heaping tbsp of raw maca.
Heaping tbsp of mesquite.
3 extra heaping tbsp of Tocotrienols.
Heaping tbsp of 4 Fiber powder.
Heaping tbsp of lucuma (optional).
2 heaping tbsp of raw cacao powder.
1 regular tbsp of roasted maca.Next is the herbs:
1 heaping tsp of chaga powder.
1 rounded tsp Eucommia powder or about 4 capsules.
1 rounded tsp Cistanche powder or about 4 capsules.
1 rounded tsp Ho Shou Wu powder or about 4 capsules
1/2 tsp Cordyceps
1/2 tsp Shilajit (optional).Next is the oils:
2 tbsp of ghee.
2 tbsp Styrian pumpkin seed oil.
a little pinch of salt.
4 squirts of Elk Antler (optional).Next is the sweeteners:
2 tbsp of birch xylitol.
2 squirts of liquid chocolate stevia.
2 squirts of liquid english toffee stevia.
2 squirts of liquid vanilla creme stevia. Then add about an ounce or two of a liquid to smooth it out like a mousse and make it creamy. Either a nut milk like almond milk or organic, raw, grass fed cows milk in glass.
Put lid on. Grab the plunger then beat it into a mousse for about 20-30 seconds as Truth does in the video.
Taste a little bit to see if it needs tweaking. Grab a spatula to scoop it all out and enjoy!
Here’s a video of it being made.

Following this, I had another 10 vitamins (my daily intake) and will only have water and some all natural cranberry and apple juice for the rest of tonight. The Jing Masters drink is the most incredible thing I’ve ever had. My body vibrates, my mind races and my heart beats very hard. I wash it down with 5 ounces of juiced wheatgrass and my pupils dilate. If you ever get to have one of these, go for it! It was the perfect 1st (entire) day fast component.
Tomorrow, day 3 of my fast is starting with juice from BluePrintCleanse. The 7 day juicing is going to be fantastic as it is challenging. I’ll drink 6 raw and unprocessed juices each day for the next 7 days which is a juice every 2 waking hours. I won’t have access to any other foods except for walnuts which I’ll eat only if I’m at my end when it comes to holding out. I also won’t be taking any vitamins or whey protein supplements. The goal is to allow my organs to completely shut down and to flush out all waste that’s accumulated in my body.
My workouts will be very minimal and will only be Pilates or Yoga along with time in the sauna and intense stretching. I won’t be doing any cardio or weight lifting in the next 10 days.
This fast is a part of my Annual Detox which I posted last week. An update to that is I haven’t used any social networking and have even installed all social apps from my iPad and iPhone. I also haven’t had any caffeinated drinks aside from the Jing Masters which has some caffeine. I was supposed to avoid meats and dairy but sort of broke that for my one cheeseburger pre-fast. This is not a religious fast and given the fact I’ve given up sex and nearly every one of my favorite past times, I figured meat and a beer was allowed if only for half a day.
Thanks for following along. I’ll post updates as my fasting continues or concludes.
