My House: Week 11 of Reconstruction

The video was uploaded to my YouTube channel 3 weeks ago but I never shared it here. Since uploading, nothing new has happened with the house. January in New Hampshire meant that from the 20th of January through today the 14th, nothing took place. We kept the driveway clear and shoveled and put down salt. I kept the heat turned on and visited sometimes to move things over to my NAS but overall, not much activity.

That changes on Monday the 15th of February. We’ll have at least 10 straight days with highs in the 30s/40s so the crew will be over working to replace my entire roof and re-framing the front half of the home from 5’5″ – 6’5″ ceilings to 8′ ceilings. It’s going to be transformative along with a new roof line with a pitch of 6/12, new stick-built roof system, 8′ framing, ridge vent, soffit venting, 40 year asphalt shingles and 18+ inches of new blow-in insulation in our attic. We’ll have that part done they say in 2 weeks from Monday. I’m sharing some photos from the last 3 weeks since the last update and while they’re not in order, it will show some progress:

In addition, we now know inner diameter of the garage which is 10’6″ and 36’6″ so Heather has mapped out that in relation to my 4 motorcycles and new sports car as well as tool cabinet setup:

Finally, we’ve completed selection of all exterior bits so garage door, exterior doors, siding, windows, shingles, stone veneer and more:

We need to pick interior flooring, doors and paint colors but we’ve made some great progress. Things are going to speed up as soon as the framing is done, roof is on and insulation is complete. We’ll then measure progress in days instead of weeks.

Here’s Matilda today standing in her new bedroom:
