via Michael Tsai – Blog – iOS: Closing of the Frontier:
Tsai, “No one can invent the next Dropbox on iOS, and perhaps not even on Android. I guess the frontier is now the desktop platforms, but do they have enough mindshare for the next big thing to break through?”
I don’t like to deal in absolutes on anything. I sometimes write in absolutes, like Tsai because publishers need to put a stake in the ground on a position but in this case, I don’t disagree but I don’t think it’s impossible that there isn’t a Dropbox/Box/Office365/Slack/Teams/iCloud/GDrive waiting in the back of someone’s mind or in a few lines of code that will carve out its position.
I do think that the iOS gold rush is done but there will always be another technical frontier for which the next prospectors will be able to claim their homestead and some will strike gold.
