The iPhone has all the benefits (in short: superior design) that would keep me, and I think most other iPhone users, on the platform even if it didn’t have a performance advantage. But it does have a significant performance advantage, and it is exclusive to Apple. This is an extraordinary situation, historically. And year-over-year, it looks like Apple’s lead is growing, not shrinking. It’s not a fluke, but a sustained advantage.
Same. Apple would have to do some awful things to lose me as a customer. It’s like the planets perfectly aligning. If another company can make a better OS wth more beautiful hardware with a perfect ecosystem that melds together and a flourishing 3rd party application community, iCloud, iTunes Store and a phone, tablet, laptop, desktop entertainment box all in its offerings and connected-home control along with a Siri competitor, I’d consider switching but even then, Apple would have to completely lag behind on everything for me to even consider it. Samsung is trying to beat Apple at its own game and Apple is winning. I can’t imagine at any point in the future where I’d switch away from Apple.
