Here, I control my words. Nobody can shut this site down, run annoying ads on it, or sell it to a phone company. Nobody can tell me what I can or can’t say, and I have complete control over the way it’s displayed. Nobody except me can change the URL structure, breaking 14 years of links to content on the web.
Well said. I’ve been blogging in some form since 1999. it’s amazing that I’m soon at my 20th anniversary of blogging and while my blog posts from 1999-2004 only exist in zip files that I keep backed up, I have content going back to when I was a teenager. Most of it is useless to post to the web this far removed but there are experiences I’m happy to have written down. Just like my Flickr photos going back to 2005. there are a lot of memories in there and yes, I have a backup.
