Visiting Asheville, North Carolina

Elizabeth always wanted me to go to Asheville with her. From what I’ve read, it’s a mini-Portland (OR) and it did live up to that with the food & beer scene, culture and overall quality of life. At the same time, this is a southern town so you have fried-chicken, sweet tea, humble common-folk and the accent you’d expect along with beautiful views of mountains that surround the city. From a comfort level, Asheville is better than Portland but I’d say Portland still has far more to offer and is more appealing to me if I chose to live the hipster life again.
I was only here for 2 days, I ate 5 meals, tried 3 different cafes, visited 4 breweries (including Sierra Nevada’s east coast plant which is technically not in Asheville) and I just explored the city. I’m looking forward to going back. Here are a few photos:
