I admit to not taking great notes on this one. As one of the single most expensive bottles of Champagne I’ve consumed, even at the 40% off CAD to USD exchange rate, it was still a $200 bottle of champagne. Heather bought this almost a year ago and it’s been stored in a root cellar at around 50F since then.
Unfortunately, the bottle was corked..and I don’t mean that in a literal packaging sense I mean the moldy basement smell and sharp mold and bitterness flavor dominated the wine. After 45 minutes, the wine opened up and really started to reveal some earthy taste with a good sweetness and even strawberry, apple and a little bit of pear. The corked undertones remained present. Wish I could afford to buy another bottle to convince myself the experience was worth it.
