The day is finally upon us. Tomorrow (likely today if you’re reading this), I’ll be laying down to get some sleep at 5PM so I can wake up at 10PM and drive 2 hours south to Boston. After a hearty Denny’s Lumberjack meal, I’ll go to a movie theatre at 1AM, sit down for the first 3 films (please don’t make me) and then we’ll do Episodes 4, 5 and 6 concluding with the 3D version of Force Awakens at 10PM. Running Time, 16 hours and 40 minutes with a few breaks thrown in.
It’s not the first time I’ve done a movie marathon at a cinema. The most recent was the SAW trilogy and 7 of those movies back to back made my mind turn into mush. More importantly, there was no re-entry allowed so I had to survive for a full 15 hours on Popcorn, Nachos, Hot Dogs and Cola. It was brutal.I can’t find anything on the AMC website about re-entry but I really hope they’ll let us go out for Lunch and Dinner but we’ll see!
Here’s the link to buy tickets if you can find any as I’m certain the Boston showing is sold out – https://www.amctheatres.com/movies/star-wars-marathon
The STAR WARS Marathon Event is the ultimate fan experience. All seven movies. One Epic Journey. Guests will see each of the six previously released STAR WARS episodes in digital 2D beginning with THE PHANTOM MENACE and concluding with the opening of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in 3D!
Running Time 16 hr 40 min Release Date December 17, 2015
To get me in the mood, I’m playing the Star Wars (aka John Williams love fest) on iTunes Radio all day at work and on the drive down. So excited to see these all back to back. I was unlucky enough to see the 2nd trilogy in theatres but I missed the first trilogy due to the fact I was born in 1986 and even though tomorrow’s showing of the original trilogy will be George Lucas’ re-mastered / altered version, it’ll be awesome to see it on a big-screen for the first time ever. That’s the main draw for me…that and the premiere of the new film. Final draw might be the fact I’ll be in a theatre with a lot of Star Wars fans that booooooo Anakin Skywalker every time he whines about Yoda and cries himself to sleep. That might actually be fun to do in a theatre.
Thinking back, there were people booing during Attack of the Clones quite a bit when i saw that in theatres. The hate is real with that character. If I have the time between movies, I might maintain a live-blog tomorrow between each film of my thoughts to pass the time. I haven’t seen the re-mastered versions in a few years and always watch Harmy’s Despecialized Editions when I do my yearly Star Wars Marathon @ home. I’m curious how angering the altered versions are now but, in celebration of the new film, I found taking a full day off work to watch Star Wars was a good idea :)
