I’ve started receiving emails from actual companies that actually have products that make them millions of dollars with cartoon characters in the subject line. Grown adults shouldn’t be sending cartoon characters to each other. There’s a reason why I’ve blocked my sisters from being able to text me via Google Voice and iMessage. They can call me on a telephone because the last thing I want is having to read a comic-strip while I’m driving and figuring out what a baseball and a grappling hook and a pizza means in response to “Are you coming to visit me this Winter?”
On iOS 9, my options are pretty bleak. I have the iOS 9 Keyboard for Emoji removed or at least I never had it but I still receive them. On OS X, I can’t disable them at all. The best thing I can do is to opt out of emails I actually wanted to receive on the grounds that you’re acting like a child and cluttering my computer with comic book characters.
If Emoji and Software-Keyboards become normal, I may have to finally go off the grid forever.
