iCloud Backup & Restore is great if your phone is stolen and you are relieved that at 1AM, your phone backed up everything to iCloud while you were sleeping and you’re not losing any data. Everyone should enable iCloud backups of their iOS Devices (and 2-step verification while you’re at it). If you plan on getting a new phone or restoring your phone from a backup, do an encrypted backup to iTunes over USB (Lightning) and restore from iTunes the next day. All of your apps, purchased music and other content along with your Health data get backed up in one nice file. Restoring is insanely fast. If you have applications on your iPhone, downloading tomorrow from the iTunes Store while millions of others are doing the same will be slow and if your WiFi is weak, prepare for up to 4 hours to do a restore.
I also recommend before doing a major OS Update that you backup all data to iTunes and do a restore of the iOS after you’ve updated. Nice to start things off with a clean slate (from backup) and lose some baggage that wasn’t needed.
So my advice is do a full encrypted backup, then restore from that backup. Very easy and you’re done in 30 minutes.
