I bought this bottle along with 2 others from this incredibly small producer in Cramant, France. We walked up to a house, saw a winery sign and knocked on the front door. An old lady came to the door where we asked, in French “can we do a wine tasting?” She took us around to the rear of the home and sat with us for 30 minutes while we tried a few things. The tasting was free so of course, we bought 2 bottles of champagne. This one was 14 Euros while the other was 16. More photos of the place & pricing is below.
So thoughts on this? Well, it’s been sitting at around 55 Degrees in my off-site storage since I received the bottle in June. I didn’t wait too long to open it. First taste, insane mouthfeel, incredibly juicy with only a slight hint of oak. As the bottle and wine opened up a bit longer, I got a Welch’s grape juice sort of taste, sweetness became too much and honestly, I wasn’t convinced I enjoyed it as much as it started. Not bad for a 14 Euro Champagne but not one I’d have again.
