No more power blocks, wall warts, or rats nests of cables. My Android phone charges at 5V and uses less than 10Wh / day, which isn’t a lot but I still think is atrocious for what it does. My old Nokia would run for a week on that.
I found this post a few times this week because people were linking to it and joking about how ridiculous this guy is and it’s just a click-bait ad to sell more Soylent 2.0 but this was the most refreshing thing I have read in the month of August. More people can take Rob’s lifestyle choice as inspiration and enact this in their own life.
The key issue that I have is that by RDPing into remote cloud servers, he’s still having an electrical impact. It might not be a server in his home but it’s probably burning fossil fuels somewhere along that pipe and the server itself.
