Mod #16 – ECS StanceEnhance Kit (VWR Springs + Spacers) ES#: 2951394. These were $549 at the time of ordering (8/6). Now they are listed for $617 USD on 8/27. It’s quite an increase and I don’t think I’d pay that much but I’ll leave that up to you.
Install of this was at a VW shop with 3 employees and the owner who has been working on VAG cars for 30 years (Porsche, VW, Audi) said it took him 3.5 hours to install Springs + Spacers and give it a test drive. I paid $280 for the install and an additional $89 for an alignment. Wish I was there for the install but I had work. It would have been good to photograph it. Initial thoughts:
The car sat for a full 24 hours before I drove it off so plenty of time to settle. I drove it 50 miles tonight. At first, I was a bit uncomfortable. It drives like a completely different car. My Golf has 1100 miles on it and it felt like I was in a new vehicle completely for the first while. Then, I realized that I can push this thing a bit and I did

I don’t think Spacers are doing much here but the VWR Springs put in some work! The car is way more easy to manage when I floor it from dead stop. it takes the power so much easier without any gripes. In corners, I did a full 180 degree off-ramp at 50 MPH. I usually take on the ramp at 40 and my body is being pulled into the door frame. Nope. 50MPH, almost no body roll of the vehicle and the g-force feels cut in half. My GF who knew there were springs but doesn’t know anything about cars said “you can go faster. You usually go around this turn really fast”
She had no idea i was going 10 MPH faster than normal. She didn’t grab hold of the coat-hanger handle like she usually does. WIN!!!!
The car’s center of gravity is lower, body roll is reduced and the power is basically absorbed nice and easy. I LOVE this mod. Easily the biggest change short of Stage 1 Tune
