Linked: “Psychologists Say That Sexting Can Be Good for You”

via NCBI and headline from Gizmodo:

Over half (57%) of respondents were Non-Sexters, 28.2% of the sample were Two-way Sexters, 12.6% were Receivers, and 2% were Senders. Males were more likely to be Receivers than females. Sexually active respondents were more likely to be Two-way Sexters than non-sexually active respondents. Among participants who were sexually active in the past 30 days, we found no differences across sexting groups in number of sexual partners, or number of unprotected sex partners in the past 30 days. We also found no relationship between sexting and psychological well-being.

Interesting findings. I’ve never received one of these kind of messages. I never would send one. It’s never even been a conversation in any part of my relationships. I see no appeal and see the whole thing as weird. I put a lot of information through the ‘series of tubes’ that is The Internet but something so personal, so close and so private shouldn’t be sent through those tubes.

How some people can be so careless with a smartphone camera or SMS window is astonishing. I’m not conservative in the experiences I have in life, the places I go or the friends I know but every networked device can be breached no matter how secure. Keep that in mind before you type, click or photograph anything.
