★ Review: Tributary Mott the Lesser (2015, B1)

Beer Tating, 8-22-2015

This is Todd Mott’s newest brewery. Todd is the inventor of Kate the Great so his once a year Imperial Stout called “Mott the Lesser” is a nice name. The caption reads “Sometimes, less is great!” Good one :)

3.9

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20

500ML Bottle. Thanks Brian for sharing.

A – Dark brown to black with small tight bubbles.

S – A ton of roasted chocolate aroma with some smoked malt along with candy and coffee.

T – There is a ton of roasted malts in this one. Coffee chocolate, almost no sweetness, dessert wine, raisin and fig

M – Thin, decent carbonation but nothing explosive.

O – This is a great ’classic’ Imperial Stout. No barrel aging, no adjuncts, no frills. But it’s a great modern stout brewed in the classic 10 years ago “why would you barrel age this?” stouts.
