I was amazed at how great the distro was in Florida for Bourbon & Rye. New Hampshire has an intense tariff aka tax they impose on each new label to enter the state so many one-off releases don’t come here and the market in Massachusetts is akin to Illinois where 500 people are all searching for a single case of Bourbon.
I grabbed a bottle of this while in Florida as I knew this bottle would last me the weekend and I could share it with some friends (who I later realized don’t drink whiskey, much less sip it). Over the course of 4 days, I still finished the bottle so I consider it a good purchase. I believe it was around $70 USD? Maybe $55. I do remember the aroma being really nice with a good amount of spice, corn, sweetness and brown sugar. The taste however, thin, forgettable and not enough rye. I’m used to Willet Rye and EH Taylor Straight Rye that tend to be pretty darn spicy.
For the price, I’d pick Taylor Straight Rye over this any day of the week..maybe not the Straight Rye 2015 release but the one I grabbed 18 months ago was flawless. I probably wouldn’t buy this bottle again but it was nice to try.
