Cantillon Gueuze Vélomoteur

Overall 4   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20

AdamJackson (3386) Enjoyed a 75CL with some very fun Swedish Gents tonight @ Akkurat. Paid 935 SEK. Split 4 ways and poured very carefully by the bartender who had a great sense of humor and excellent English!

A – Beer is a hazy golden orange with not a lot of cork pop on the opening. First pour seemed flat but the 2nd pour for myself was a nice dense 2 finger head of classic Cantillon Gueuze bubbles.

S – Aroma is nearly perfect but it lacks the cheesiness I like but this is actually not a surprising aroma for a Cantillon beer. A little metallic, some lemon, pastry/dough, brett, orange baked with tart candies.

T – This is quite a sour beer, almost more than I can handle. Very musky with bright fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Blue cheese, hay, bread dough, lots of sour fruits, kiwi (skin and all).

M – Chalks and coats the teeth along with lingering for quite a while with intense sourness and lingering grape taste.

O – Very nice beer. Not the only reason to visit Stockholm or Akkurat but certainly a very nice beer to try. I was informed that there is now 1 bottle left for consumption to guests. I asked if this was similar to Belgium in that bars often state “you just bought our last bottle” but no, not so here in Stockholm. They truly have 1 left.
