★ Review: Cantillon 2014 Pinot d’Aunis

Spent the day at Cantillon in Brussels

Technically, this is a re-brew of Zwanze 2011 but it was fantastic. I never got to have 2011 Zwanze so this was a delicious treat!

3.9

   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 16/20

Enjoyed as the Pinot d’Aunis 75CL at Cantillon in March of 2015. Split 2 ways in tasters.A – Purple pour, dark pink in the glass with a 2 finger pink head.

S – Nose is great. Very vinous with grape skin, merlot, some cherry and lemon tart.

T – Taste is nice. More wine forward than any other Cantillon I’ve had. Like sniffing a red wine that’s been diluted with lemonade.

M – Thin, not a lot of mouthfeel, very one-dimensional. Tastes single barrel and not a blend

O – Despite the lack of body, the taste of this was really wonderful!

I also had a 2013 50N. Only the 3rd time having it with the last time being 9 months ago. The cognac is still very intense but after half an hour sitting out, this beer really shines.
