As usual, I spent Sunday morning at Grote Dorst before boarding a plane to Istanbul. I never have a bad time here and even though I’m not ordering the rare bottles anymore, I did manage to drink a really great quality of beers with friends from Germany and France. Uli (the famous blender) is almost always there and we caught up and shared some stories over beers. He brought some experimental batches that we sampled at the table which was very generous of him. Blended Blueberry Lambic. MMMMM.
I took a few photos as always:
Some Girardin Unblended Lambic
Uli ordered all 4 Lambics on draught and did an impromptu blending session which was fun.
We had a few years of Mort Subite Oude Kriek being sampled. I loved the 2006.
More Subite I think 2004 Oude Kriek, 3 Fonteinen Armand & Tomme and De Cam 2004 Oude Kriek
Timmerman’s Oude Lambiek
2005 3F Oude Kriek van Schaerbeekse Krieken (35% (350 grams per liter)
Glorious Cheese and Kriek
Golden Blend still tasting nice.
This is the 1st Blend of Tilquin…not just the 2010 label but bottle #74 of the first ever batch of Tilquin. I wasn’t a fan.
Some shots of our table.
The bottle lineup.
I also think it’s cool that Grote Dorst has a sign up showing they won best Belgian Beer Bar for 2014 on RateBeer.
