It’s been a while since I’ve had this beer. I remember in early 2013 trading for a bottle of CBS and opening it in the Summer with my friend Chris. We did KBS 2011 alongside CBS and CBS still came out to be the winner. I was pretty disappointed that I never got to try this beer fresh given the infusion of coffee.
I saw Worthy Burger was tapping this beer and I dropped in after work to grab a glass and rate a few Vermont beers. Compared batch 1 that I had a while after the release, I preferred this one but I remember it being a sweeter beer. This was a more hearty beer, no booze at all and honestly I prefer BCS Coffee and KBS to CBS. It’s almost like this was a beer that was a huge deal in its time but now it sits low among the plethora of very well crafted Imperial Stouts aged in bourbon barrels with coffee.
A top notch beer and I’m glad to have tried it fresh. I also saw a few guys who I’ve spoken too online via the beer forums. Maybe they read this blog? Who knows! Hello mates and have a safe drive up to Hill Farmstead to pick up your bottle of Ann. They are driving to HF today from Connecticut and driving home the same day. Insanity.
Of note: I also hit 3,000 beer ratings today on RateBeer and my efforts to be the #1 rater of Vermont beers continue. I have 411 VT ratings while the top non-active guy has 474. I have a good feeling I’ll hit it this year.
Have you had Odd Side’s Hipster Brunch Stout? I think I like that better than CBS.
Hey Tim. I keep hearing about this but nope, haven’t tried any yet. Guess I’ll have to look into trading for some.
