AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A – Similar to other Bzart bottles, this explodes and starts to gush if you weren’t careful and that’s after carefully storing this undisturbed on its side for over a year. It’s a beautiful blood red, 2 finger head stays around and is pink hued.
S – The nose is similar to the Oude Kriek Bzart and standard Oud Beersel Oude Kriek. Sweet cherry, oak, cherry pie, other interesting but more dessert like nose.
T – Taste is also very sweet, not quite “kriek max” but it’s more dessert like, lots of cherry pie, sour at the start and end with the middle being dominated by a sweet over carbonated explosion of juice
M – Champagne like mouthfeel, very effervescent and fills the mouth with a single swish
O – This is nice but again, for the price maybe not so much. Some people will love this and open it in place of Champagne on a special occasion and that seems about right.
