The 2013 Volkswagen Golf R after an Ice Storm

I drove from Nashua NH to Hanover NH last night (just over 80 miles) which usually takes about 90 minutes but las night took 3 hours due to the weather. We received about 5 inches of snow and another 2 inches of ice falling over the course of 5 hours. I started my trip south of the snow-line (all ice) and the last 40 miles were in the snow. I stopped a couple of times to clear clumps of ice off my wipers and headlights which were thick with an inch and a half of ice. The All Wheel Drive Golf R w/ Blizzak LMs handled the snow beautifully. I’ve pushed this hard in previous storms and ice-lakes sometimes doing 70MPH on a frozen lake with full control. Last night, with a few inches of snow and ice on the Interstate, i was able to comfortable go 55MPH most of the time and the car just performed so well. The only delays were being stuck behind snow plows going 25MPH.

Enough about how awesome this car is, the way the ice stuck to the car was too good to not photography
