2014 Bottled on 2/24/2014. Bottle #374 of 987. Thanks Chris for getting this for me. Having had Kate the Great 2010 and 2011, I’m very excited to try this one.

A – Pours a dark brown to black out of the 375ML bottle. Looks pitch black in the glass. Almost no head formed on the pour, seemed downright flat. Even the cork was difficult to get out. A light head formed and faded to a single line.

S – The aroma is insanely roasty, a touch of peat, a lot of dark chocolate and some creaminess. Very similar to KtG.

T – Sweet milk chocolate, almond, roasted nuts and an oaky woody texture. It’s very sweet but the roast balance does a good job of keeping things in check. I get a peach, kiwi thing in the middle. Really interesting.

M – The mouthfeel is very good! Nice creamy mouthfeel. It’s oily and slick at the finish with a thick middle feel. Finish is pretty damn boozy for 11% ABV.

O – This is a top tier beer but is a bit too sweet for now. i’d say in 18 months, it’s really going to shine.
