AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A – No gushing or anything really…maybe it’s fine? Pours a disgusting plum brown toilet water with lots of sediment. Looks pretty nasty. Lots of adjuncts in this beer so I’m not surprised.
S – Nose is straight up sour cherry & vinegar. I can get some vanilla.
T – Taste is sour and tart but I can get Coconut, chocolate and vanilla very clearly at the start, middle and the long finish. the tart acidic tastes of cherries, candies and wheat do take a back seat to what this beer was supposed to be. I expected a malt bomb and I’m getting a soured adjunct strong ale and that is really disappointing.
M – Thin and oily mouthfeel. Residual tartness before vanilla comes through at the long finish
O – So, I’m not surprised how bad this is but I’m bummed out. I guess this beer was free minus shipping so it’s not really an all out loss but I certainly won’t be opening another one for a while and may just take it to bottle shares with the warning that it’s probably sour. No point in trying to trade or give it away. Frankly, I’ll probably drink half of this. It’s not bad.
