This is another Cascade release that everyone goes crazy over but honestly, is pretty one-dimensional. We all know Cascade’s house yeast is just Lacto so it makes sense that these beers get boring / old after a while. I personally have stopped really seeking them out and haven’t ordered a beer from their online store in over 6 months. It was actually after visiting their brewery in October where I tried everything they had on tap and realized how one-dimensional these are that now I’m just trying to open what unrated beers I have from them and commit to not buying any more of them.

S – Smell is great. Dark fruit, earthy and woody. Totally get the biscuit and cornbread as well. But the grape jelly like concord grapes just shines through.
T – Pretty Floral up front. Sweet finish. This isn’t a sour beer really but it does make my mouth water. It is sour but not in any vinegar way. it’s very clean. Blueberries and grape jelly and cheap grocery store wine.
M – Thin and not doing much. The soda pop fizz leads to a disappointing mouthfeel.
O – Still, an impressive beer. the wine barrel + elderberry lends something nice. One I’d have again.
