Acquired in a trade. This is a beer my GF has been wanting to try for a very long time so she was excited to see this brought out for her birthday. We split the bottle two ways.
A – Golden orange appearance. It has that fizzy, champagne like carbonation in the pour and mouthfeel that is nowhere close to a Lambic but is like every other Upland I’ve poured.
S – Nose is full of peaches, lemon juice and acidity. This is going to be very sour.
T – Very acidic, holy vinegar and I instantly get a bomb of heartburn in my chest. Lemon and lime juice, citrus undertones and a touch of vanilla. Easily the 2nd most sour beer I’ve ever tasted.
M – Difficult to truly asses as I can’t take large gulps but it’s not all that complex. I don’t get any truly big explosion of CO2 on the swish and it leaves behind puckering sour for minutes after each sip.
O – This has neither Kiwi or Lambic properties. The mouthfeel, nose, taste are completely off. I hate to say it but after getting 3 Upland beers, I’m fine with never getting another. The raspberry, kiwi and persimmon have been let downs. I have a Blackberry on the way but expect it to be similar. This is a bottle that should be split 5 ways and not between two people. it’s a shame that this is labeled ’lambic’. This is the 2nd case of us not finishing an upland beer. Waste of $25.
