I’ve continued to not buy Fantome beers. This is one of my last bottles. Date says 2010, enjoyed in a tulip.
A – Very big carbonation on the pour, champagne like bubbles fill the glass. Bronze appearance. Fades to a finger head from a 4 finger in a matter of seconds.
S – Very yeasty with caramel and a touch of charcoal on the nose.
T – Not bad up front. You get a sweet candy with caramel and honey and a touch of citrus and grassiness. Minor pie crust and tart tangerine tastes. Middle and finish are a mix of green tea and charred oak with peated moss and cigarette butts.
M – Medium body and mouth fill. residual sweetness at the finish.
O – Overall, it’s not a bad saison but the peat, charcoal and tea notes really take this down a few ticks.
