AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
adamjackson (1529) – Canaan, New Hampshire, USA – SEP 7, 2013
“2011 Project” bottle from the brewery split 2 ways at fridge temp in wine stemware.
A – Minor gushing but I caught it. It’s perhaps the most champagne like beer I’ve ever seen. The amount of bubbles from bottom to top of the glass are so “alka-seltzer” like that the 3 finger head slowly faded to one and sticks around. bubbles fade but are replaced by more. It’s very nice to stare at. Incredibly dark almost reddish orange appearance. Slightly hazy.
S – Acetic nose, hints of spicy peppercorn and, you guessed it, tangerines. Apricot is very present. I dont get a lot of rum, more like a whiskey nose.
T – Lots of rum taste though. Holy boozy. You can taste every bit of the 11% ABV from start to the boozy finish. Fruit juices throughout, most apricot and very little citrus notes. Hint of vinegar but not a lot. Solidly sour and wild with jammy fruit qualities and an overpowering bitterness.
M – Medium body, very dry with a champagne like carbonation. Minor cough medicine astringency but that must be the ABV.
O – A very nice beer, probably one I would sit on for another 12 months before opening. The booziness is distracting from the fruity qualities.
