From the cellar. Enjoyed at home with Chris.
A – Pitch black. slightly oily motor oil pour. Not as thick as the extreme stouts of ’13 but still, very nice appearance. Cocoa colored head fades to some nice lacing!
S – Lovely vinous sweet and grapey aroma. Dark malts, slight roast character, no booze but a great chocolate milk-chocolate sweetness.
T – Lots of chocolate, tons of big roasted barley, hints of espresso bean and some sweet candied sugar. VERY roasty, lots of oak, the port barrel adds this grape sweetness and mellow cough syrup taste that is both good and bad. It’s a big beer, so these variants sort of blend together and form something awesome.
M – My mouth is tingling. Heavy body, nice carbonation, very good balance, dry roasty finish
O – Very nice. Great to try and I’m glad to have enjoyed it with one of the top Portsmouth raters.
