S – The nose is awesome. Very tropical. Lots of mango and pineapple. Sort of an orange peel scent as well.
T – Incredibly hoppy. IBU has to be high 90s and that may be the only downside to this beer. The taste is great, also carrying that pineapple but with the added pine cone character with lemon zest. It’s a very fruity beer but the lingering bitterness lingers for a little too long and you’re forced to drink more to get the bitterness off the palate.
M – Medium body, really nice carbonation balance. For someone who has had a lot of cough syrup lately (recovering from the flu), it does have that booziness at the finish.
O – This is a great IPA but not my favorite in the Society series. 5 and 2 really shine as the winners here. Still, a great beer from a great brewery.
Hector and and I just finished splitting our second growler of the stuff. Hector was my friend who came to Prohibition Pig with Tayloir and I.
Great beer! It doesn’t quite have the hop presence of Abner or HT, but you can tell they tried to jam as much of it in there as they could. It’s just the hop (Mosaic). Mosaic isn’t quite as pungent as Simcoe.
Sadly, I am now once again out of Hill Farmstead. :( And the Farmhouse wants to charge $6.50 for 12oz… ugh. Gotta make another trip out there soon. We went on a Thursday and showed up at noon. No line at all, we where in and out in 20mins.
Yep. I told Shaun the same thing on my review, I’m just not a fan of Mosaic hops. This is a great beer but, when it’s an IPA and you don’t like that hop variety used, you’re not gonna review it well but it was tasty.
I always assumed you brew so much that you never have to buy commercial beers. :)
