★ Review: Bells This One Goes to 11 Ale

Bells This One Goes to 11 Ale

Before I review this one, honestly this beer tastes exactly like my home-brewed Barleywine from May. It’s an All-Galaxy Barleywine (I cheated by adding 2 ounces of Citra) but it’s mostly Galaxy. Came in at 12% +/0 .5% and tasted like murder when I first tapped it. I bottled 4 gallons of it in 1-litre swing tops and, since November, I open one a

month and have shared a few with friends. It’s a remarkable beer and keeps getting better. This beer is a “strong ale” with Galaxy, Citra and other fruity hops and clocks in at 11%. It tastes identical to my barley wine.

Thanks to my buddy Mike for sending this one over.A – Pours a dark reddish oak color. 2 finger off white head

S – Nose is like a barleywine and an IPA crawled inside of the glass. Loads of brown sugar sweetness, hints of citra, grapefruit and pineapple.

T – Very sweet with tropical fruits and mango up front. Middle is a malt bomb with burnt sugar, graham cracker and floral notes. Finish is pine needle.

M – Very heavy body. Lots of booziness in this one. Slight chest burner on the finish

O – Sort of undwhelming in the piney / malty category but the GAlaxy and Citra hops really shine through!
