Elizabeth and I attended Zwanze Day 2012 in Portland Maine. This was the closest destination to where we live in New Hampshire. Lord Hobo in Boston was an option but we assumed Boston would be loaded with people so decided to go to Portland which is a city I haven’t been yet. It was a quaint fishing town with nice architecture, great beer and very nice people. I got to see The Fuj, Drew Shal and a few others “online” beer buddies. AirForceHops from RateBeer brought his girlfriend and we all shared some delicious bottle. Oh and the notorious and always pleasant Ruth who is quite popular in Vermont in the beer community shared some drinks with us as well.
Zwanze 2012 was exciting because I love the use of Rhubarb in beers but this didn’t do it for me. I didn’t like it. We took a few other photos as well.

T – Taste is very bright. Tons of citrus like grapefruits and tangerine. The rhubarb comes on strong. Tart and effervescent. Very dry and lemon juice mouth puckering.
M – Almost no carbonation, light body.
O – I had higher hopes for this beer. Good but not what I was hoping for.
*It looks like I rated Zwanze 2012 the lowest at 3.2. No one rated is less than i did which is weird. Is it that we spent all day driving and waiting around for 6 ounces and it will never be served again and thus is at least worth a 4? I’m not an expert, my palate is not yet ready to pick out great and crappy beers so I don’t take opinions too seriously because most of you are right but the nose was all sulfur. It smelled like a toilet or rotten eggs and I hated that. Taste was decent but it’s the 2 out of 10 aroma that caused my review to be a 3.2. oh well*
Now, for some photos
