I have been itching to try this place out since they opened earlier this year. They aren’t open for lunch on the days I’m in Vermont and I’m in bed pretty early each night so haven’t made it to dinner here yet. Finally, Elizabeth and I decided to sacrifice our bed time schedule and meet up with some new friends at this restaurant that is gaining a reputation in New England for great food and great beer!
The Pig (as the locals call it) is actually in the same location as The Alchemist was The Alchemist, which is now just a cannery that produces Heady Topper had to evacuate this place after flooding from last year’s hurricane. Prohibition Pig isn’t a brew pub but they do have Heady Topper. They also smoke their own meat, pickle their own vegetables and make their own BBQ sauces. The cocktails are great, the draft and bottled beer list are superb and the food was excellent.
One of our dinner companions was actually my most frequent commenter on this blog, Alan.
I didn’t get a shot of the building which is a shame. Here are a few random photos from our evening:
A great time, for sure. I’ll be going back sometime next year, will let you know. And thanks for sharing the Lou Pepe! It was only my second Cantillion after having the Classic Geueze a few months ago at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia.
IT was a fantastic time. If you go agin, let me know and we’d love to join you. We should also work out a brew day together soon.
