★ Super-Review: Russian River Horizontal aka ‘Reviewification’

A – The appearance is a combo of Gold, Hazel and Amber. It’s a very deep woody tone. Two finger head appears but quickly leaves.

S – Pinot Grigio, Cherry and Honey. I’m getting that sour bite that lambics provide and a lot of fruits that are all over the place!

T – Raspberry, sour, grapes, cherry. Everything tastes so light with a red-wine finish! Very refreshing! I’d love to serve this at room temp on a sunny day! 

M – HUGE bubbles on the swish but light and very easy to drink!

O – I really loved this beer. Would love to have it again.”

A – 1-Finger big and tiny bubble head dissipated quickly and very very fast. Beer is an SRM of 5. Dark brown and very hazey. 

S – Sour, tart but not as much as Temptation. Very nice on the nose but nothing too impressive. Subdued almost watered down or oxidized red wine smell. 

T – Wow. Intensely acid like with lots of sour. Loving the carbernet notes which are very subdued and the black curants. It’s a very tasty beer very similar to Hanssens Experimental Cassis. 

M – 50/50 carbonation, dry finish, lingering tartness. 

O – it’s good. B+ but nothing remarkable.

A – Poured a very tiny head that went away quickly. SRM 2 on the scale. Creamy solid white. Lemongrass wheat color, light golden color. Very beautiful. Very light haze. 

S – Very tart and sour. Dry champagne scent. Funky and elegant. Earthiness and smell of melons and banana. 

T – HUGE explosion of tart. Incredible bitterness. There isn’t a huge flavor assigned from a very belgian yeast and old geuze taste. It’s hard to pinpoint the flavor. Very very balanced. 

M – Dry, 60/40 carbonation on a mouth swish. Tasty as all hell. I love it. Light bodied. An entire bottle alone might be too sour. 

O – Wow. A+

A – Half-Finger white to red colored head that dissipated very fast to a minor glass-edge line of bubbles. The beer is a ruby red color. No haze, not a ton of carbonation. Very tasty looking. 

S – Temptation with Raspberries. That’s the best way to explain this beer because that’s exactly what this is. Smells wonderful, wild, sour, lambic and delicious. 

T – Huge sour raspberries taste. Very wild yeast taste and lots of white wine sauvignon blanc? Hard to tell. The sour rocks my tongue and makes it hurt with sour intensity. Great feeling. 

M – 80/20 carbonation, very dry finish, light bodied. Very drinkable. 

O – This is amazing. It’s funky and wild and bitter. Remarkable and wonderful. A+

A – 5-Finger head that’s completely crystal clear. The head lacing and retention is great. Lines of bubbles line the edges of the glass. SRM of 2 on the scale. Bright light golden ale with a stream of champagne like bubbles traveling bottom to top as it sits on my table. 

S – The biggest thing I’m getting is that Belgian Bready Yeast scent that is found more often in Belgian Dark Ales and Trappist ales. Light hops and banana and pineapple maltiness to this. 

T – The first taste is pretty disappointing. Taste is thick and heavy and there is a hoppy bitterness to this alongside the Belgian yeast but no fruits, no spices, no floral or earthiness to it. Just akin to a very heavy Milwaukee canned beer. Taste is similar to an American lager than a Belgian Strong Ale. 

M – 30/70 carbonation, medium-bodied, lingering blandness that stays around a few minutes after tasting. It’s not dry at all. There’s a little bitterness on the finish but not much. 

O – Considering the rating, I expected more. Not a very good beer. Thank goodness this was my only bottle.

A – 5-Finger crystal hear head. Exceptional head lacing stuck to the edges of the glass. After 3 minutes, head dissipation is slow with half a finger left. SRM of 2. Bright, light golden color almost akin to lemon juice minus the haze. Very clear beer. 

S – Bready Belgian Yeast, loads of spices and some tropical fruits. Very smooth on the nose except for that really awesome spice that smells like Cayenne, Basil and Black pepper. 

T – Damnation with spice? That’s what I’m getting. Very spicy and that overtakes all of the other flavors. Of course, there’s that standard Belgian Abbey Ale taste and some dry fruits like apricot and raisins. It’s very light on the yeast but it’s there. 

M – 50/50 carbonation, dry finish, light bodied. Lingering spice and bready yeast. 

O – This is a solid beer. Easy to drink and enjoyable.
