★ Required Technology for My Trip to India

Canon G11

My dearest and bestest friend, Parth Dhebar has asked me:

“Which devices are you taking with you?”

This was an actual reply to me and I was confused until he said “India” and specified his question as what technology equipment was coming with me. I’d like to share my “list” mostly because he’s kind of reminded  me to compose this list for my own sanity while sharing it with the world. Residents of Bombay or New Delhi, please don’t target me for theft cause I will be packing….some crazy expensive technology *wink face*

Alright, here’s my list of things that are required for this trip to a totally opposite part of the world. Each and every one of my essential “technology pieces” will be stuffed into the awesome  Kata DR-467i bag which I’m absolutely in love with. I spent an hour tonight loading it up with four cameras, 7 lenses, two computers and multiple extra pieces like headphones, power adapters and memory cards and it really is an amazing piece of technology for a backpack.

Camera Gear:

  • Canon AE-1 with 50mm F/1.8 lens, two filters, one extra 6 volt battery and 8 rolls of Fujifilm 400mm ISO film at 36 exposures.
  • Olympus PEN E-PL2 with 14-42mm lens, 17mm lens and 45-200mm lens and one spare battery
  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 with spare battery
  • Canon 5D (previous version) with 50mm lens, 70-200 lens, 14-45 lens and 12-24mm fisheye lens with three total batteries
  • Four 8 gigabyte SD cards
  • Two 16 gigabyte CF cards
  • My Manfroto CX190Pro4 Tripod

Computer Gear:

  • MacBook Air 1.4Ghz w/ 4 gigabytes of ram and 64GB SSD
  • Photoshop CS5 & Aperture 3 & iPhoto ’11
  • 256 Gigabyte LaCie Rugged Drive (USB Bus Powered) for photo backups and data continuity
  • iPhone 4 with International Data Roaming enabled and Tethering
  • iPad 32GB Wi-Fi
  • Apple World Traveler Adapter Kit
  • India Power Adapter for Camera Charging and other misc. needs

Other Miscellaneous Technology Gear:

  • Shure SE530 Earphones
  • Shure SRH 840 Headphones
  • Two USB iPhone Cables
  • One 19-in-1 card reader for SD&CF Card reading quickly
  • Extra MacBook Air Adapter (in case the 1st gets blown from power surge)

Aside from the extras, there isn’t much more that I’ll be bringing with me. This is my “bare essentials” and I think I could trim a few places on the camera gear but I have a few friends going as well with me to India so having all of the camera gear there is good as we can all borrow each other’s gear and I can try out new techniques.

Remember, this is a full 12 days off work so I’ll have plenty of time to take photographs and I’m looking forward to getting out there and really taking some phenomenal photos.

So, that’s my list. If there’s anything I forgot, ping me! Thanks for reading.
